Here's what happened: In the wee hours of June 28th, 1969, police raided the now-iconic Stonewall Inn in New York City's Greenwich Village neighborhood. Even if you're already familiar with the background, it doesn't hurt to give yourself a quick refresher so you can get pumped and inspired leading up to the day of your city's parade. The history of the NYC Pride March is especially significant because this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, which are the reason why there's an annual parade in the first place.
